Att.ale celebrates the joy of making and wearing unique, handcrafted and sustainable pieces of art.

Att.ale emerges in the intersection of my interest in recovering materials at the end of their lifecycle, with issues related to adornment, the body, craft and value. Each jewel is handcrafted using traditional as well as custom unconventional techniques for transforming materials, creating shapes and incorporating them to the body.

Discarded materials can be transformed into valuable and beautiful adornments as seen in JUGAAD CONMIGO series, made up from Styrogold (A composite made of metal fillings and dissolved reused styrofoam). Worn out but valuable garments can turn into jewels in GEODENIM and PÉTREO series where textiles are turned into a gem-like composite assembled with silver and brass. Industrial sheets of metals undervalued for being common, can turn into light and shiny earrings and necklaces in OROPEL. All pieces are unique and some series explore repetition of models with variations coming from the hand making process of the crafts person that executes the piece; usually myself or other jewelers from Medellin, Colombia that eventually participate in the production.

The name att.ale is a shortcut of the words Atentamente Alejandra (spanish), commonly used for signing letters and presents indicating its coming from you, and meaning something like “sincerely, from (me)” (ale for Alejandra). The project has been part of diverse contemporary jewelry scenarios like:

“JugaadConmigo” series in El Dorado Siglo XXI. Gallerie Terre D´Alligres at Parcour Bijoux circuit 2017. París.

“Post-fosil” in First Colective Contemporary Jewelry Exhibition at La Colecta in Puebla, México. 2016.

“RE-versión” in Conversación en Filigrana collective exhibition in En Construcción simposium. Santa Fe de Antioquia, Colombia. 2018.

“Ashes of thoughts” in De La Mano I collective exhibition in Naranjo y Velilla Gallery in Medellín, Colombia. 2015
